Behind the Labels: Fighting Greenwashing & Humanewashing
Animal Justice Academy
Lunchtime Live
With Kira Berkeley, Krystal-Anne Roussel &
Adam Clasky
12pm - 1pm
Certified humane, eco-friendly, grass-fed, biodegradable, wild caught—these are terms in Canada that guarantee NOTHING.
As consumer demand for ethical and sustainable products reaches an all-time high, companies are flooding the market with unsubstantiated claims, false certifications, and misleading imagery to make consumers believe they’re buying responsibly.
In this session, AEL Advocacy’s Kira Berkeley and Krystal-Anne Roussel, along with Animal Protection Party of Canada’s Adam Clasky, will show us how to fight back against humanewashing and greenwashing in marketing.
They’ll present the findings of their new report, “Behind the Labels”, which will help you spot misleading claims from companies.
You’ll also get a walkthrough of the accompanying Consumer Action Toolkit, designed to empower Canadians to take action against dangerous deceptive marketing and ads. We'll go through the step-by-step instructions for filing consumer complaints to the Competition Bureau and Ad Standards.
Get armed with the valuable knowledge and tools to take on one of our movement's Goliaths!
We invite folks to have their video on during this event to enhance the sense of community, but it’s not mandatory
