Where's Cultivated Meat At?
Animal Justice Academy Lunchtime Live
with Allison Penner
12pm - 1pm

Cultivated meat (also known at cultured or lab-grown meat) could revolutionize the world for animals — potentially sparing trillions of lives — as well as significantly reducing the devastating environmental impact of meat.

There are many questions swirling around, though, about whether cultivated meat will ever become a truly viable mass replacement for meat from animals?

Allison Penner of Reimagine Agriculture will join our AJA Lunchtime Live to give us a rundown on where things are at with cultivated meat and the questions animal advocates are asking.

We'll discuss

  • Where cultivated meat is currently available to the public and what the reactions have been
  • How production of cultivated meat is getting scaled up
  • Will animals need to be exploited for the continued production of cultivated meat?
  • Is price parity with slaughtered meat actually possible?
  • Does cultivated meat perpetuate the commodification of animals or does it free animals from commodification?
  • The political and cultural obstacles that cultivated meat faces

We'll also find out if there's anything we can do to help along this promising replacement for raising and slaughtering animals.

*We invite folks to have their video on during this event to enhance the sense of community, but it’s not mandatory
