ANIMAL JUSTICE ACADEMY LUNCHTIME LIVE:
The Bill to Ban Canadian Fur Farms

Canadian MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith has introduced a groundbreaking bill to ban fur farms nationwide!

There are fur farms across the country that cram thousands of animals like minks, foxes, and rabbits into tiny wire cages. Not only is this a horrific existence for these regularly wild animals, but the filthy and crowded conditions on fur farms are also the perfect breeding grounds for the spread of dangerous viruses.

As a vegan and animal champion, Nate has been a vital force in getting animal protection laws passed in the Canadian Parliament, and in on February 24th he’s going to join us on AJA Lunchtime Live for a Q&A.

We'll talk about:

  • next steps for Bill C-247 and what it's going to take to get it passed
  • why the time is rope for this bill (and some of the promising changes we're seeing around the banning of fur farms elsewhere)
  • the challenges the bill faces
  • what a bill like this could mean to future animal advocacy
  • a special assignment for AJAers to help push the bill forward

You can also pick Nate's brain on other topics – from food policy to the Parliamentary Animal Welfare Caucus.

*We invite folks to have their video on during this event to enhance the sense of community, but it’s not mandatory
